Xbox Series X games reveal is drawing near, with Microsoft about to showcase to the world the first gameplay footage of next-gen titles. On Thursday May 7 at 4pm BST the next episode of Inside Xbox and the first instalment of Xbox 20/20 will be aired. The latter is a brand new monthly series which will reveal more on Xbox Series X, Xbox Game Studios, Xbox Game Pass and Project xCloud.
And the first edition of Xbox 20/20 will showcase the first ever next-gen gameplay footage ahead of the Xbox Series X release date later this year.
Ubisoft has already confirmed that gameplay footage for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will debut during the upcoming Xbox stream.
While in a blog post Microsoft said the broadcast will showcase “sneak peeks from a wide variety of publishing partners”.
From the sounds of it first-party titles such as Halo Infinite and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 could feature in a later stream.
Microsoft said Xbox 20/20 in July will focus on first-party titles, so we may find out about the biggest Xbox exclusives on the horizon then.
Besides Halo Infinite and Senua’s Saga a new Perfect Dark game from The Initiative, Microsoft’s ‘AAAA’ studio, is also believed to be in the works.
While Playground Games are also rumoured to be putting together a new entry in the Fable saga.
Reliable leaker Sabi said they had heard that Fable, Perfect Dark and Halo had all originally been planned for a May reveal.
In a series of tweets they posted: “Friend of mine has been saying for a while that Fable, Perfect Dark and Halo were planned to be shown this month and all launch within the first year of XSX. Curious if things have changed.
“Should be noted that they just recently announced they’ll mostly cover XSX games in July, so it won’t be a particularly long wait.
“I’d take these games w/ a grain of salt as they aren’t from usual sources, but they are very rarely wrong.
“Should also be noted that while its been heavily rumored, DirectFeed Games and others have mentioned Perfect Dark wasn’t quite planned for May.
“I’m not really sure what’s going on with that one. We’ll see about stuff in July!”
So, it remains to be seen if these reveals will indeed be taking place in July – or we may get a glimpse of some of these titles in this week’s Xbox stream.
If you want to tune in then there will be a number of ways you can do so.
Here is where you can watch the next episode of Inside Xbox and the first edition of Xbox 20/20 on Thursday May 7…
The upcoming stream will also provide details on the Smart Delivery system, which gives next-gen updates to games purchased for the Xbox One.
Which means you don’t need to purchase two editions of the same game to play them across separate consoles.
Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the first titles to support this feature, so it’s possible the CD Projekt RED mega-hit may appear in the Xbox broadcast this week.
