Drinks giant Diageo confirmed 13 contractors at their Shieldhall packaging plant in Glasgow had been struck down by the bug.
“Many will have elderly parents and kids and they’re worried about potentially spreading it to them if they catch it.”
Diageo said a number of other employees have been forced to self-isolate as a precaution after the outbreak.
A spokesman said: “We can confirm that twelve employees from one of our logistics contractors and one other contractor at our Shieldhall packaging plant have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past week.
“All safety protocols and procedures have been followed, including a deep clean sanitation of the relevant area and detailed contact tracing.
“A number of other individuals have been asked to self-isolate as a precaution and additional control measures have been put in place to prevent on-site transmission.
“We continue to monitor the situation very carefully and we are in touch with the relevant authorities.”
The outbreak comes amid reports Scotland may enter a two-week mini-lockdown from 7pm this Friday to tackle rising Covid cases.
Nicola Sturgeon hinted at possible pub shutdowns and travel restrictions as cases continue to soar north of the border.
