A Home Bargains edition of Monopoly exists – just in case you’re already thinking ahead to Christmas.
The special edition board game is presented in a blue and red box, to represent the Home Bargains logo, with a matching game board.
A description on the Home Bargains’ website reads: “Move over Mayfair, Home Bargains is in town!
“This exclusive version of Monopoly by Hasbro features some of Home Bargains most iconic locations, warehouses and our very own online store. Starting off in the very first HB store in Old Swan, Liverpool, you can end up in Pontefract, Rutherglen, Newtownabbey, Harlow or Poole!”
Rather than your bog-standard houses or hotels, this version features stores and superstores, much like the traditional game it also has Chance and Community Chest cards.
Sadly, the game is sold out online but eagle-eyed shoppers have seen them on sale in store, so if you want to get your hands on one – and why wouldn’t you – you’ll need to try your luck and check in store.
A post on the Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, shows the game on sale for £14.99.
If novelty versions of the iconic board game are your kind of thing, then you’re in luck, because you can also get your hands on this Elf edition.
The game features locations, characters and quotes from the hit 2003 movie. It also comes with specially designed tokens including Santa’s sleigh, a bottle of maple syrup and a coffee mug.
According to a description: “Relive the hilarious movie Elf featuring the journey of Buddy The Elf from the North Pole where he passed the seven levels of the candy cane forest, through the sea of swirly-twirly gum drops, and then through the Lincoln Tunnel.”
Creators USAopoly say gamers use the original Monopoly game rules along with ‘Special Rules’ for this edition.
Much like the original version, it’s sure to end in tears when you spot that your mum has been quietly helping herself to some notes while playing banker and someone ends up flipping the board in frustration.
