The latest leak suggests Sonos’ new Playbar (expected to launch today) is called Arc and features Atmos speakers

Sonos is expected to launch a Dolby Atmos soundbar in addition to an updated Play:5 and Sub today, but if leaks are to be believed we already know a fair bit about them.

Last week, rumours circulated that Sonos would reveal three new products: an all-new Playbar with Dolby Atmos, an update to its Play:5 speaker, and a subwoofer. The multi-room mogul then tweeted a teaser for a news announcement on 6th May, suggesting that the trio of new products would be made official today.

Yesterday’s leak furnished us with our first look at what is supposedly the Sonos Dolby Atmos soundbar – and today we have a leaked name and more images that indicate certain features, as well as more information on the other two products.

WinFuture writer and Twitter leaker Roland Quantd has tweeted (below) marketing material for the ‘Sonos Arc’ soundbar. An image of its internals show it to have eight speakers: four along the front, one side-firing driver at each end and, all but confirming the Arc’s Atmos support, two upward-firing speakers. The Arc’s price? “price: money, lots of it,” he posted on his thread.

WinFuture has published several images of all three new products, indicating that the new Play:5 speaker will simply be called ‘Sonos Five’ while the third-generation will retain the ‘Sonos Sub’ name.

While Sonos Arc represents a significant design overhaul from the 2013-launched Playbar, the Sonos Five largely resembles the aesthetics of its predecessor, the Play:5. According to the leaked image below, it sees three large woofer speakers and two tweeters and midrange speakers housed inside a sealed cabinet.

The report indicates that one Sonos Five can deliver stereo sound from its speaker array, as can two Sonos Fives working in tandem, with one handling the left channel and another handling the right. Producer Giles Martin is allegedly behind the Sonos Five’s audio tuning too.
