Tens of thousands of Snapchat users are experiencing issues with the hugely-popular messaging and social networking app – with reports of problems sending and receiving texts, photos and videos surging amongst Snapchat users in the UK right now. Independent outage monitor DownDetector, which tracks social media mentions to determine when services like Snapchat are experiencing issues, has recorded a staggering spike in “Snapchat Down” reports today, with tens of thousands of Snapchat down reports received.
DownDetector data suggests that more than 10,000 users are reporting issues with Snapchat every minute. Despite this, Snapchat has yet to comment on the issues – let alone offer a solution for users who are being confronted with “Message Failed To Send” error messages within the app, which is available on iPhone and Android smartphones.
According to the DownDetector map, which uses the geolocation data linked with the social media posts to work out the areas impacted by a particular issue, Snapchat issues appaear to be mainly affecting users in the UK, mainland Europe and the United States.
While Snapchat users have taken to social networking site Twitter to report issues with the hugely popular iOS and Android app. One tweeted: “Snapchat just completely down @snapchatsupport” Another posted: “Is anyone else’s Snapchat not working lol @snapchatsupport”
One added: “snap is not working…. AGAIN” And another wrote: “Yeah my Snapchat ain’t send snaps or getting snaps”.

The @snapchatsupport Twitter account posted: “We’re aware some Snapchatters are having trouble using the app. We are looking into it and working on a fix!”
The latest Snapchat server issues come after a huge month for the app. In August Snapchat received around 28.5million new installs on iOS and Android.
This marked the largest month for first-time downloads since May 2019 when Snapchat received 41.2million new installs.
The surge in downloads came amid fears that viral video app TikTok could be getting banned in the US in September.
