Hundreds of people have said they are unable to send and receive messages on the website Down Detector.
The messaging programme has been a lifeline for many people having to work from home during the coronavirus pandemic, allowing many to keep in contact with their colleagues when they cannot speak to them in person in an office.
A spokesperson for Slack wrote on the company’s website: ‘Some people may be having an issue with Slack.
‘Some customers are having trouble with files, messages and connecting to Slack. We’re investigating and will have more information to share in 30 minutes.
There have been more than 500 reports of the work messaging app being down since around 11am this morning.
Almost 40% of those experiencing issues say they are unable to connect to the programme, 34% say they cannot send messages, and 25% say they cannot send files.
Amazon Web Services, which offers cloud and remote platforms, has also been reported as down by many users.
