A £150,000 McLaren sports car was left badly damaged after a crash in a Sainsbury’s car park involving an Audi that flipped on its side.
The roof of the McLaren along with the windscreen and the front of the car were left badly smashed up, while the Audi was also badly damaged.
The Audi driver was trapped inside the car and had to be freed by emergency services, according to one witness.
“I didn’t actually hear the crash – I just noticed a large group of people in the car park.
“It took a minute for the coin to drop that the Audi was on its side.”
It is unclear how the Audi got into that position, but images from the scene show both cars sustained a lot of damage.
The McLaren 570GT Coupe involved in the incident has an RRP when new of £157,055, according to the car review website Parkers.
The website describes the car as “astonishingly fast”, “remarkably comfortable” and “practical for a super car”.
Top Gear, in a review of the car, described it as “a supercar that drives beautifully, is hugely potent and has a real sense of occasion”.
However, Jeremy Clarkson is not keen on the way it looks – although he does still like it.
