Rumours about a new Silent Hill game just won’t go away. Several months ago, some reliable insiders revealed that Sony and Konami are working on a new horror game, set in the Silent Hill universe. On top of this, reports claimed that the game will be a soft reboot for the series and an exclusive for Sony’s upcoming console PlayStation 5.
And while these rumours were floating around the social media and gaming forums, Konami and Sony never officially announced the game. Konami even denied rubbished these rumours, by saying that there is no new Silent Hill game in development.
Despite this, it feels like every month we get some new details about the project. Today, games industry analyst Roberto Serrano hints that Silent Hill could be announced at The Game Awards show later this year.
This could be the case to be fair to Serrano but we suggest you take this with a huge grain of salt since the analyst has been wrong many times in the past about all sorts of things. This again does not mean that he is not right this time, only that a dose of scepticism is required, since this is just a rumour and nothing more.
The Game Awards are certainly a show where many publishers decide to reveal their games, especially in recent years. Final Fantasy VII Remake, Godfall, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 and Xbox Series X are just some of the major announcements from The Game Awards 2019.
