It wouldn’t be an exciting gaming console launch season without a slew of freshly minted peripherals.
Today, Razer has announced the release of two brand new wireless headsets, designed specifically for use with Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox Series X|S. The Kaira ($99.99) and Kaira Pro ($149.99) are both available now and shipping from Razer’s website.
At the base level, the Kaira and Kaira Pro are made of the same guts, which include Titanium TriForce 50mm audio drivers and a HyperCardiod microphone, which is removable on the Pro. Both devices connect directly to the Xbox Series X|S without the need for any cumbersome dongles, a feature that I’ve come to really appreciate in console accessories.
The Pro mostly deviates from the base Kaira in that it has Chroma RGB lighting as well as Bluetooth 5.0, which allows you to connect to your Xbox and your phone simultaneously. This opens up the opportunity to have, say, Discord running while you game. Also, the Pro sports an additional internal microphone for going mobile and physically paring down, so that you don’t need to keep the main mic arm attached while traveling or relaxing.
Razer is claiming a 15 hour battery life for the Kaira and a 20 hour stretch for the Kaira Pro (15 with Chroma disabled). Both headsets support Windows Sonic and have FlowKnit memory foam ear cushions.
So if the extra perks of the Pro are of interest, it might be worth plunking down the extra $50. If not, the regular Kaira seems like a decent entry-level gaming headset, and each pair of headphones should pair very easily with Microsoft’s new hardware.
