It looks like Amazon weren’t making things up after all, as Ubisoft themselves have accidentally revealed that the remake is real and it’s of The Sands Of Time.

Ads mistakenly appeared on the Russian Uplay website, which removes any last doubt that the rumours might not be true.

There’s no indication yet who’s developing the remake but they don’t seem to be very good at faces in particular.

Rumours suggest a remake of Prince Of Persia will be unveiled today, but there’s disagreement on when it will be out and for what formats.

Barely a year goes by without some kind of rumour of a Prince Of Persia reboot or remake but this time there does seem to be broad agreement that a remake will be announced at the Ubisoft Forward showcase due to take place this evening at 8pm.

However, no one can quite agree on the details of what the remake is or when it’ll be out, even though Amazon.co.uk has a listing for the game on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.

This comes only a few weeks after a remake was also listed by a Guatemalan retailer for PlayStation 4 and Switch, with a release date of November. But at least one reliable leaker thinks that’s incorrect.

Respected Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad claims that the remake won’t be on Nintendo Switch and won’t be out this November, although he does agree that the remake is real.

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has also weighed in to say the remake is real, but no-one has yet said exactly which Prince Of Persia it is – even though the assumption is that it’d be PlayStation 2 era game The Sands Of Time.

However, the usually reliable Liam Robertson has suggested it may actually be some kind of remake of the original 2D game from way back in 1989. Although if it’s that, why no Switch version?

It also seems an unlikely thing to try and sell at retail, given how many times it’s been re-released and updated over the years, but at this point the only thing to do is wait and see what Ubisoft announces.

We talked about this last year on the podcast. There was a 2D remake of the original PoP floating around for a while and also tentative plans for other stuff. https://t.co/tXmUuPSS0G

This will be their second Ubisoft Forward event this year, after the first one took place closer to when E3 would’ve been and covered big name games such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6, and Watch Dogs Legion.

Tonight’s is expected to focus on smaller and unannounced titles, including Gods & Monsters which has, inexplicably, had its name changed to the laughably generic Immortals: Fenyx Rising.
