If you’re trying and failing to check your Outlook inbox this evening then you are not the only ones. It appears the popular email service from Microsoft is currently down again with hundreds of users thought to be affected. This new outage comes just a few days after users were hit with similar issues.
Reports of the outage first started appearing at around 3pm with some messages not sendng at all whilst others appear to be sent but then aren’t being delivered to the recipient
Independent outage monitor, Downdetector, has registered over 600 reports at one time from Outlook fans insisting it’s not working properly.
Most of the issues appear to be centred around the UK and Europe with the US seemingly unaffected by the glitch.
As you’d expect, users have now migrated to Twitter to express their disappointment at the outage.
Speaking on the social network one Outlook user said: “No email service since at least 1600. Google suggests its been down since 1350 this afternoon. Important, urgent emails to send”
Whilst another added: “@Outlook is your server down? I’m not able to send or receive emails.”
This is a serious problem as it’s left many unable to work with one saying during last week’s outage: “Apologies for anyone waiting for an email off me today but outlook isn’t playing. If you need something from me urgently drop me a text or give me a call.”
There’s no word just yet as to when it will be fixed although Microsoft has confirmed that its email service is having issues.
In a message on its status page the US firm said, “Users can send email but the messages aren’t being delivered to the recipient. “We’ve developed and successfully tested a fix that will address the issue. We’re now in the process of applying the fix to restore email delivery.”
