It is but a short month’s wait away before Guardians can enjoy Destiny 2: Beyond Light. However, before we even get close to that, there has been some major news coming out the latest This Week at Bungie update. Not only have we gotten the date and time for the next Destiny 2 raid and the Race to World First, but we also learned that Bungie legend and community stalwart David “Deej” Dague will be leaving the company for new pastures.
The latest Destiny 2 raid will start at 1 PM ET on November 21. The traditional Race to World First will also kickstart from that precise timing. With more than a month to prepare, it is likely that teams are already figuring out their best plans. Bungie has also reiterated that winners would be scrutinized a little more this time around. This follows an increasing worry about cheating in the community. Data scientists will be spending more time to validate the runs of any teams attempting to be the first. Disqualifications will be handed out if any foul play is detected. We all want the top players to be playing clean, after all.
This next Destiny 2 raid will bring players to the Deep Stone Crypt, the rumored origins of the exo race. Players will be able to find it on Europa, which is a new addition alongside the Cosmodrome as part of Destiny 2: Beyond Light. Here is what you need to know if you are feeling competitive:
The other big Bungie news is that long-time community manager and all-around nice guy Deej is leaving the company. His last day is on November 6, which will see him serve the community for nine years. Where he will land next remains a mystery.
“I’m proud to say that I’m leaving Bungie even more a fan than when I arrived those nine years ago. Whoever warned that you should never meet your heroes didn’t have the chance to work in a place like this. I’m taking with me a lifetime of incredible memories of Guardians I would have never known otherwise,” Deej shared.
“Destiny will continue to be an amazing game, in part, because of you. The people who play Bungie games together are the pride and joy of this company. It has been my pleasure to keep our community traditions strong during my time up front.”
Deej also confirmed that he will be sticking around officially until the launch of Destiny 2: Beyond Light. Thereafter, he will just be a fan like you and me.
