Activision could be set to announce a new Crash Bandicoot and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game soon.
Yesterday, Activision held its first quarter earnings call – and though a lot of the information including in the call was pretty dry financial jargon, there was some interesting gaming information hidden in the middle of it all.
Chief financial officer Dennis Durkin, at one point during the call, laid out the publisher’s release schedule for the coming year – and it looks like we’re in for a few surprises.
“Turning to the second half of the year, our planned slate includes a new Call of Duty premium title, two releases based on our extensive library of IP from Activision, and Blizzard’s Shadowlands expansion for World of Warcraft,” Durkin revealed (thanks VGC ).
There’s been some speculation about what those two new titles based on Activision IP could be, but already there’s a pretty strong suggestion that we’re going to see a Crash Bandicoot title and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater title before the year is out.
Back in March, we saw suggestions that there are no less than two Crash Bandicoot projects currently in the pipes at Activision.
According to a leaker called TheGamingRevolution on Twitter, Activision is working on a both “a PvP Crash game [and] Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex Remastered.”
Could one of those titles a project from an existing IP that Durkin was referring to in his statement? It seems likely – especially since Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy has sold-in over 10 million units since its launch in July of 2017.
The other title may well be a THPS title that we’ve seen teased and hinted at repeatedly in the past few months.
Just yesterday, pro skater Jason Dill suggested that there’s a new Tony Hawk’s game in active development. This may make up the second title referred to in Durkin’s statement.
We likely don’t have too long to wait until we find out what’s coming, though: E3 was supposed to take place early June, and that’s typically where we hear about a vast swathe of the year’s upcoming games.
Though the event itself isn’t happening this year, a selection of developers and publishers are hosting their own livestreams and online events around the same time.
