Microsoft Surface Book might have just passed the ultimate stress test as one owner recently took to Twitter to share how the laptop saved their life.
The Microsoft Surface Book has several useful functions that make it an attractive option for consumers, although saving a life from a speeding bullet isn’t included in any of the features listed for the product. Yet, that’s exactly what one Surface Book owner recently claimed happened to them, stating the laptop saved their life.
Surface Book is part of Microsoft’s line of high-end laptops designed to compete with the MacBook Pro from Apple. The first iteration of the Surface Book was released in 2015 and Microsoft has continued to support the line ever since. The Microsoft Surface Book 3 is the latest entry in the series and was released earlier in 2020. Surface Book 3 is a versatile machine with the ability to be used as a traditional laptop or a tablet making it efficient for business, design, and recreation.
@itsExtreme_ on Twitter shared an incredible image to highlight claims of how a Microsoft Surface Book laptop stopped a bullet. The owner stated that the Surface Book, “just saved my life,” and expressed gratitude to the official Microsoft Twitter account. Later replies on the thread reveal that a neighbor in the apartment below was “showing off his gun.” This supposedly led to a misfire that traveled through the neighbors ceiling and straight through the Surface Book which luckily was able to stop the bullet before causing any injury.

Microsoft has beefed up the specs of the Surface Book 3 with a 10th Gen i5/i7 Intel Core Processor. Combined with the 1660 Ti Nvidia GeForce graphics and up to 32GB of RAM, and the Surface Book 3 makes for an appealing off the shelf machine for consumers. Among those features, it fails to mention the ability to protect users from gunfire. Probably a feature that Microsoft failed to test, considering no one would necessarily think to use a laptop as protection in this way.
The official Microsoft Store Twitter account has since replied to the Tweet asking the Twitter user to DM them. So it is possible that the Surface Book owner will get a replacement laptop out of this bizarre situation, although after such an incident that might be the last thing on their mind right now. Of course, while the Surface Book did apparently manage to stop a bullet on this occasion, that’s not to say anyone else should consider testing their own laptop’s bullet-resistant level of protection.
