With the release of Minecraft’s Steve, Alex, Zombie and Enderman as DLC in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, fans have already begun to speculate on the remaining four challengers for the Fighters Pass Vol. 2. According to Masahiro Sakurai, the continuous development that has gone on since Super Smash Bros. 4 will be coming to an end at the conclusion of this second pass. It is heavily implied that the four remaining characters of the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 will be the last to join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s massive roster.
While many gaming icons of fan favorites have already become playable, there are still plenty more characters that would surely excite gamers. Backseat has released a video that details the likelihood of the most popular characters that were highlighted in Source Gaming’s poll by using « mathematical calculations. »
According to Backseat, these mathematical equations come from looking at the characters that are already present in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s roster. By looking closely at what defines these characters, Backseat is able to create a chart that acts as a predictor for the Fighters Pass Vol. 2.
This chart considers things like the era in which a character comes from, the publisher, their gender, which side of the world they came from and their genre. A character like Steve and Alex comes from the west since Nintendo had to negotiate with Microsoft to get them in, can be be either male or female based on which costume is chosen and come from a sandbox genre.
Based on Backseat’s predictor method, it seems that Paper Mario is mathematically a very likely pick. This is certainly interesting considering that most fans have already speculated that Paper Mario may have been disconfirmed with the Origami King Spirit Board that was released for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Chances for some characters like Dr. Eggman and Ryu Hayabusa appear to be very favorable. Other characters like The Heavy and Reimu don’t appear to be likely at all. Check out the video below to get the full scoop on Backseat’s predictions.
