College football Hall of Famer and legendary coach Lou Holtz is downsizing and placed his $4.5 million estate in Florida on the market this week. One of the most expensive listings in Orlando’s exclusive Lake Nona golf and country club community, Holtz’s estate spans 10,773 square feet with six bedrooms, six full baths and four half baths following its lavish renovation in 2017 according to Premier Sotheby’s International Realty.
Custom details at Holtz’s estate include tray ceilings with crown moldings, an in-home elevator and an expansive second-story balcony. There’s also a smoking room, built after Holtz’s love for pipes. It includes a “custom space with an air purification system.”
“This stunning home embodies Florida living at its finest, and the demand for this unique lifestyle is on the rise. We are currently seeing an influx of interest from New York and California. Out-of-market buyers have outpaced years past, and they seem to be house hunting in the $1 million-plus category,” said Peter Luu of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty in a release.
“I had great privacy and could smoke my pipe and make all my decisions there… some bad, but all decisions were made in there,” Holtz said.
When you walk int0 the home, there’s a grand, extended view of the entryway that expands to the estate’s other areas. There are several glass double-doors within the home that allow maximum natural light and glimpses of natural aesthetics.
Before we step inside, let’s start just beyond the home with a screened-in outdoor lanai and extravagant pool area for entertaining.
As you can see, there’s a relaxation spot just beyond the water with a crafted firepit and seating, perfect for a family or a spot to chill in the shade in the middle of summer.
A kitchen fit for a king, stainless steel appliances with quartz counters and recess lighting makes this space one of the home’s most unique areas.
This gives you an idea of the nearly 11,000-square feet of space inside this Central Florida estate. Long hallways provide outstanding sightlines and immense depth inside the home.
One of the home’s most expansive spaces, this secondary living room is perfect for a large group on gameday.
The master bath is all custom-built to fit the needs of the homeowner. Includes beautiful cabinetry, quartz counters and a unique, oversized tub.
Recess, theater-style lighting defines a living room encompassing an open floor plan. Archways throughout the home provide an even bigger, open feel.
A modernized laundry room features quartz counters and stainless steel appliances. There’s an exit to the yard that’s centrally-located.
