WinFuture and Roland Quandt have given us a first look at the Surface Go 2, the successor to the two-year-old Surface Go. While the new Surface Go retains the chassis of its predecessor, Microsoft has upgraded it to a 10.5-inch display that runs natively at 1,920 x 1,280 pixels.
The net result is that the Surface Go 2 will have slimmer bezels than its predecessor while maintaining its compact form factor and backwards-compatibility with existing accessories. Microsoft is still releasing four new Type Covers alongside the Surface Go 2 though, which WinFuture and Roland Quandt claim will be called Black, Ice Blue, Platinum and Poppy Red.
Additionally, the Surface Go 2 will feature bezels that are slightly thicker than those on the Surface Pro X but somewhat thinner than those on the Surface Pro 7. As we have previously reported, Microsoft will offer the Surface Go 2 with Wi-Fi 6 connectivity as standard, along with a choice between Pentium Gold 4425Y and Core m3-8100Y processors.
The Pentium edition will only come with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of eMMC storage though, while the Core m3 will be available with 8 GB of RAM, either a 128 GB or 256 GB SSD and optional LTE. The LTE and 256 GB model may be marketed as the Surface Go 2 for Business, but that is just our guess. The Surface Go 2 is expected to arrive before the end of the month alongside the Surface Book 3.
