Earlier today, we received word about an announcement of an announcement for Mortal Kombat 11. Based on the sneak peek at the trailer, it looks like new story content will be made available via DLC.
However, it is also entirely possible that we may learn about a second wave of DLC for the game. Ed Boon’s recent comment about NetherRealm Studios not being done with Mortal Kombat 11 could be seen as a hint towards this.
We suspect that the released trailer may have revealed the silhouettes of two fighters that are currently unplayable. Based on Raiden’s reaction, it seems likely that the one in the middle is Shang Tsung — who is already playable via the first Kombat Pack.
Assuming a second DLC pack takes cues from the first wave of DLC, then we should probably expect six more fighters to join the roster. As of right now, there are 31 playable characters.
Who could possibly be next? There are probably dozens of options, but let’s keep it limited to four.
Reptile’s absence from the game’s story mode and roster is something of a real mystery. At the end of Mortal Kombat X’s story, Reptile was still alive and well.
Being that Reptile has been present in the Mortal Kombat lore since the very first game, it really feels like a missed opportunity to not include this classic character.
With access to slow and fast Forceballs, Acid Spit, Reptilian Dash, slide, invisibility, and more, Reptile had access to a playstyle that was unique. These abilities made him versatile in both rush down and zoning.
In addition, Reptile tends to be a very popular character within the series. It’s no wonder that he won our recent legacy character poll. For me personally, he’s also my second favorite Mortal Kombat character next to Baraka.
For whatever reason, Mileena was also strangely omitted from Mortal Kombat 11’s roster. While it’s true that she met with a grisly fate near the end of Mortal Kombat X’s story, other characters that died in previous titles made a return thanks to the (selective) time gimmick.
Although Mileena is a clone of Kitana, her playstyle and personality couldn’t be more different. Mileena makes use of Sai blades as opposed to Kitana’s fans and Jade’s bo staff.
Even though Kitana has Mileena’s Sai and uses some of her moves in one of her variations, it still isn’t really Mileena.
Mileena ended up ranking second on our legacy character poll after Reptile. Evidently, this is a fighter that fans really want to see return.
It feels like we’ve been receiving teases about Fujin since Mortal Kombat 9. His presence was especially felt in Mortal Kombat X, but he never became available to use.
In fact, Fujin hasn’t been playable since Mortal Kombat: Armageddon — before the series reboot. At this point, NetherRealm Studios could introduce a unique take on Fujin’s Wind God abilities.
In terms of godlike entities, Raiden and Cetrion are already playable. Maybe it’s finally time for Fujin to join too.
There have been a ton of rumors circulating about Ash Williams from Army of Darkness joining Mortal Kombat 11’s roster. He’d be another guest character like the Terminator, Joker, and Spawn.
Currently, there’s no one in Mortal Kombat 11 that fights with a chainsaw. Ash Williams would fulfill this role nicely as he has replaced his hand with the deadly cutting tool.
Be sure to let us know which combatants you’d like to see join Mortal Kombat 11 via a hypothetical Kombat Pack 2.
World news – US – If Kombat Pack 2 gets announced tomorrow then these four characters would be excellent choices as DLC for Mortal Kombat 11
