Update: This all went official just after publishing. The tournament is on November 4, and it is, in fact, Ghost Rider.
Ghost Rider may not have quite the national profile of Daredevil, but he does have Nicholas Cage, and that is most definitely as good. But it looks like the next reward skin for Fortniteâs Marvel Knockout Super Series will be none other than Johnny Blaze, revealed on Twitter last night:
Yes, that is just a silhouette, but the consensus on the internet is that this is indeed Ghost Rider, and I agree: those spikes, the collar, and the obvious tease of the fire and the skull in the tweet donât leave much to the imagination. Maybe Epic and Marvel will pull some wild trick and this will be someone else, but that would be somewhat out of character.
As the next skin the Super Series, we should already know how to get this based on what happened with the Daredevil skinânot official yet, but easily assumed. Weâll have another tournament where a certain number of top players will get the skin for free, early, giving them an opportunity to strut around for day or two letting everyone on the island know that they are, so to speak, on fire. Weâll likely get official word later today or early in the week, which is good because there isnât anything else all that important happening right now.
Weâve certainly had our fair share of Marvel skins this season: I remember back with the second Thanos event when people wondered whether or not weâd ever get Marvel skins at all, considering Disneyâs notorious protectiveness of its IP, but even the maximalist would have been hard pressed to guess that we would have nearly every prominent Marvel character and a handful of Star Wars characters would make their way to the game alongside licensed skins from all sorts of different properties. Itâs clear that there are a few more left, so weâll see what happens.
It doesnât seem like this season is ending this week, like it would normally, so I feel like weâre going to get some sort of epic month-long Nexus War as Galactus arrives on the island and all sorts of other weird things start happening. Weâll see more next week, if it ever comes.
