Italian Fashion House Gucci has been slammed for selling ripped tights that look like they’ve been ‘clawed by a cat’ for a £146.

The luxury label was branded ‘out of touch’ for selling the expensive stretch mesh tights, which have the designer’s label etched into the waistband which horrified social media users.

Italian Fashion House Gucci has been slammed for selling ripped tights that look like they’ve been ‘clawed by a cat’ for a £146.

Among the critics was Instagram account Diet Prada , which serves as a fashion industry watchdog. ‘To whoever paid $190 for these @gucci pre-ripped tights… r u ok? #RippedInItaly’ they wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of the distressed leg coverings.

The tights, which are marked as sold out by various third party sellers, are described by Gucci as ‘High-rise’ and ‘distressing throughout’  with a  ‘woven logo at elasticised waistband’.

Diet Prada’s post gathered hundreds of comments from confused social media users , with some joking they would sell their own old tights for the same price.

‘I have so many pairs like this. Gonna claim mine are Gucci, like thanks for making my broke a**look rich. Cool cool cool,’ said one.

‘Lmaooo clearly 2020 is getting to everyone and making them LOSE their minds,’ a fifth joked.

But Haute Couture designer Natalia Fender who is best known for her unorthodox use of metal textiles in knitting defended the brand, adding: ‘Haha, to be fair they had to program the knitting machine to make it looked ‘ripped’, so I’m assuming it’s knit this way and will not run any further, etc. Similar to t-shirts that have this look.’

It comes just weeks after fellow designer Ralph Lauren left fans baffled by advertising a pair of £620 overalls that are covered in fake paint stains.

The blue cotton boiler suit has white and red splatters all over it and worn marks on the knees.

It is kept together by gold zip and looks like something that could be worn by a painter-decorator.
