Garmin down reports are surging in at the moment, with Garmin Connect as well as other Garmin services down and not working once again.
Independent outage monitor Down Detector has seen a spike in Garmin down reports today, with the issues mainly affecting those in the UK, US and Europe.
The latest Garmin server issues comes hot on the heels of another major outage that took place last month which lasted for days.
Garmin Connect is the most high-profile Garmin service that is currently offline, but so is Garmin Golf, Garmin Dive and Garmin Express.
At the time of writing the official Garmin Twitter account is yet to comment about the latest server issues to hit their array of services.
So far Down Detector has registered a peak of around 500 Garmin Connect down reports, with the majority of affected users experiencing issues with the app.
The latest Garmin server issues comes hot on the heels of another major outage at the end of July that took Garmin services offline for several days.
It was claimed that a Russian cybergang known as ‘Evil Corp’ were behind the outage, allegedly carrying out a ransomware attack that wreaked havoc on Garmin’s services.
Garmin later confirmed that they had been the victim of a cyberattack which took place on July 23.
In a press release published on July 27 Garmin said: “Garmin Ltd today announced it was the victim of a cyber attack that encrypted some of our systems on July 23, 2020.
“As a result, many of our online services were interrupted including website functions, customer support, customer facing applications, and company communications.
“We immediately began to assess the nature of the attack and started remediation. We have no indication that any customer data, including payment information from Garmin Pay, was accessed, lost or stolen. Additionally, the functionality of Garmin products was not affected, other than the ability to access online services.
“Affected systems are being restored and we expect to return to normal operation over the next few days.
“We do not expect any material impact to our operations or financial results because of this outage. As our affected systems are restored, we expect some delays as the backlog of information is being processed.
“We are grateful for our customers’ patience and understanding during this incident and look forward to continuing to provide the exceptional customer service and support that has been our hallmark and tradition.”
