We’re into the fourth week of Chapter 2 Season 4, which means a list of new challenges is right around the corner. The challenges for this week were leaked when the most recent patch went live, so we were able to see them before they came to the game.

Here’s what you can expect to see on Thursday, September 17 when the challenges come to the Fortnite Battle Pass tab:

Most of these challenges will be easy to complete with minimal extra effort. All you need to do is land at Steamy Stacks, The Authority, Weeping Woods, Sweaty Sands, and Slurpy Swamp for a few matches to finish the elimination, damage, and chest challenges.

If you don’t already know, the Collector’s museum can be found on the hill overlooking Retail Row. You might have some competition while trying to destroy cases, but you should be able to carve out three for yourself.

Hacking Stark robots is as easy as landing at Stark Industries and disposing of a few henchmen. Once you down a robot, you’ll see the option to hack them. Once hacked, they’ll fight with you against other players and Stark robots. Be careful, though, these bots are carrying some hard-hitting weapons and are known to be deadly accurate most of the time.

The only challenge that requires a true guide is how to find Gatherers, kill them, and use their remains. We have a separate article covering all of that, which you can find here. Happy hunting!

This Fortnite Crash Pad strategy subverts the expectation of most players, allowing you to secure the elimination.

Crash Pads might be the most useful and versatile items that Epic have ever added to Fortnite. When they were first introduced into core modes, players mostly used them for mobility and to avoid fall damage. When they came to competitive, though, players found about a dozen new uses for them.

One of the most common uses for Crash Pads is to jump into an opponent’s box. You can throw one down at your feet, breaking an opponent’s wall and sending you into their box. Any competitive Fortnite fan or player knows about this strategy all to well.

Since this is the most popular use of Crash Pads in competitive Fortnite, players are going to expect it. If a competent player sees a Crash Pad land in front of their wall, they’re going to expect their opponent to be in their face. There’s no sense in holding a wall when your opponent is already inside.

Reddit user u/TOMIGERINO came up with a couple of other strategies to take advantage of this meta. Instead of using the Crash Pad to jump into a box, he used it to take an opponent’s wall. This method is a lot safer, especially if you’re facing someone 1-on-1.

This strategy adds another layer to the chess match that is competitive Fortnite. Your opponent will expect you to jump into their box and will, likely, be looking for a shot rather than holding their walls. Bouncing the Crash Pad in these ways will allow you to stay on the outside, replace the wall, and finish the kill from a safe distance.

An opponent will probably be able to hold their walls against this strategy, but attempting to hold a wall is the wrong play most of the time. A smart player will know that there’s nothing they can do against someone who is Crash-Padding into their box. The point of this new strategy is that your opponent won’t see it coming.

Try this out in Creative Mode a few times to get the distance and timing down. This looks to be yet another wrinkle in the ever-evolving competitive Fortnite meta.

Fortnite players might not be too familiar with the massively-popular Rocket League. It’s a game that no one knew they needed until it existed. Like Fortnite, the game presents itself to you with a simple concept that has a massive skill ceiling.

Last year, Epic Games purchased the developer of Rocket League, Psyonix, in what felt like a match made in heaven. The success of Rocket League mirrored that of Fortnite in many ways, but fans of the game grew frustrated over the monetization efforts of the former. Epic Games brought the Fortnite monetization strategy to Rocket League, which is much more consumer-friendly than the loot box-oriented microtransactions of the past.

Epic’s acquisition of Psynoix eventually led to the announcement of Rocket League going free-to-play. It’s clear that Epic are closely following their Fortnite blueprint – allowing players to buy in-game cosmetics rather than purchasing the game and then gambling on loot boxes.

Rocket League will officially become free-to-play on September 23. To celebrate the news, Epic are hosting a cross-promotional event between Rocket League and their most popular title, Fortnite. Rocket League and Fortnite players will be able to unlock cosmetics for both of their favorite games.

🚀⚽🏎️🦙Celebrate @rocketleague going free to play on September 23rd. Starting that weekend, jump into Rocket League Llama-Rama to earn awesome in-game rewards for both Rocket League and Fortnite. We’ll have more info to share next week. pic.twitter.com/FeATrAd8j4

We’re not sure what these cosmetics will look like, just yet, but we can expect some Rocket League skins to be in the mix. Epic seem to be promoting Rocket League more than Fortnite, here. We also expect to see a Fortnite reward tied to Rocket League playtime.

We’ll update this post when we learn more about the specific rewards that Epic are offering. If you haven’t played Rocket League, we highly recommend trying it when it goes free-to-play. It’s a ton of fun whether you’re a casual player who can barely jump or a sweaty competitive player who can juggle the ball while flying through the air.

Fortnite players are undoubtedly familiar with the Awakening Fortnite challenges that Epic introduced to Season 4. These challenges reward players with some unique styles and skin-specific cosmetics. For Tony Stark, the reward is his Iron Man suit.

A lot of players could live without unlocking the Doctor Doom emote or additional Thor style, but most people are going to want the Iron Man suit. Here’s what you’ll need to do to unlock it.

Tony Stark loves to go fast, as shown by his fleet of customized Whiplashes in the Stark Industries garage.

This is the most straightforward challenge of the bunch. All you need to do is find a whiplash and a straightaway. As we mentioned, there are plenty of them in the Stark Industries garage, but a lot of players usually land here.

We recommend landing somewhere like Retail Row or Sweaty Sands. There’s likely to be an open Whiplash, fewer players, and enough real estate to hit 88 mph.

This stage is as easy as loading into a game of Team Rumble, grabbing whatever item you see, and hitting the nearest Upgrade Bench. There are Upgrade Benches scattered all over the map and you begin a Team Rumble match with enough materials to upgrade a Rare weapon to Epic.

Salty Springs might be the most common location for this challenge since it’s in the middle of the map and is almost always accessible in Team Rumble. The Upgrade Bench is located in the garage of the brick building.

We highly recommend Team Rumble for this stage of the challenge unless you don’t mind dying after you emote. Team Rumble is far less crowded and doesn’t spawn the Stark Robots, so it’s much safer.

The workshop is at the lowest level of the main building. If you’re already familiar with Stark Industries, then you’ll recognize it as the location that houses Stark’s Iron Man suits. You’ll need to emote in the center of the platform, which you can see in the video, below.

Unlocking the Tony Stark Awakening challenges is pretty important, considering it’s the only way to grab the Iron Man suit. He’s a central figure of Marvel and of the season, so you won’t want to miss this one.

If you’re still struggling with the rest of the Awakening challenges, take a look at a list of our guides here.

This Fortnite Crash Pad strategy subverts the expectation of most players, allowing you to secure the elimination.
