Ewok has used National Coming Out Day to announce that they are transgender, making esports history in the progress.
Soleil ‘Ewok’ Wheeler has announced that they are transgender and bisexual, with the 15-year-old becoming the first male transgender player on a T1 esports team.
Last year, Wheeler, who was born deaf, became the first female FaZe Clan member, thanks to his skills with Fortnite.
Wheeler made his announcements via TwitLonger, where he said, ‘I want to be open about it and educate people but feel comfortable with myself. I never felt right in [a] girl body and struggled.’

‘I realised that you can’t avoid any bad situations and you’ll have to face them eventually. I know the transition and stuff will be tough for me. I am nervous as hell. This is huge, especially [as] I am in FaZe and first transgender guy in t1 esports organization.’
‘This is truly a big decision and I know it’ll impact some people. I’ll need y’all support. I truly appreciate it if you supports [sic]. It means the world to me.’
Wheeler has over 350,000 followers on Twitter and was nominated for Content Creator of the Year at the 2019 The Game Awards. He is currently signed to an exclusive streaming contract with Twitch.
Although plenty of trolls have replied to the comments on Twitter the response seems to have been broadly positive, with Wheeler thanking fans for the support.
