A young mother who suffered severe acne for more than 10 years has revealed she saw dramatic improvements in her skin just months after she overhauled her skincare regime.
Erica, from regional Victoria, said she struggled with debilitating cystic acne since her teenage years – but she noticed her skin worsen as she got older.
Every inch of her face was covered in deep, red, irritated bumps, as she was unable to leave the house without applying makeup hide her face.
Despite her agonising battle, the 28-year-old executive assistant managed to banish the blemishes for good as she shared the ‘before’ and ‘after’ photographs of her incredible skin transformation showing her complexion noticeably clearer.

Far from getting better, the young mother-of-one said she was battling with acne on and off for more than a decade – but her breakouts were getting worse and worse.
‘It was very painful, under the skin, but also visible white head acne. The flare ups were bad but I didn’t have the right products to calm the skin. It was mainly in my T-zone,’ Erica told Daily Mail Australia.
‘My confidence was definitely impacted. I would never leave the house without makeup on, and even with makeup I was embarrassed. It was also so painful. I felt like that’s all people could see when they looked at me.
She believed her chronic illnesses, hormones and even motherhood were most likely the causes for her adult cystic acne.

‘I believe my health was the main cause behind my acne. I have chronic illnesses that I’m sure play a large role in the condition of my skin,’ she said.
‘Also, things like hormones have likely contributed. I have had a child so my body went through many drastic changes during that time. Motherhood can be very stressful and busy at times, which I think might play a role too.
‘I believe my teenage self wasn’t informed enough to treat my skin correctly. Suffering with acne as a teenager more than 10 years ago, I treated it with really harsh products that were stripping my skin, doing more harm than good.’
And so she tried everything imaginable to clear up her complexion – including expensive products, prescription medication and even tweaking her diet – but nothing seemed to work.
‘I tried so many different products on the market as well as prescription medication which was very harsh and as soon as I stopped it all came back. I also tried many diet changes like cutting out dairy and gluten,’ she said.
Erica noticed her skin started to clear up between four to six months of using the products

However, she finally found a solution after she stumbled across Australian-owned brand esmi Skin Minerals on Instagram.
‘I decided to get in touch with their skincare consultants. Initially, the team helped me by slowly introducing a few key products,’ Erica explained.
From there, she was instructed to use three different products – including a cleanser, hyaluronic hydrating serum and an acai skin balancing face oil.
As her skin started to improve, she was introduced to an anti redness serum called ‘minty green smoothie’ to help with breakouts and a pomegranate brightening serum to help with pigmentation.
‘My skin definitely purged initially which scared me, but the skincare consultants, including Meg, were there with me every step of the way,’ she explained.
Erica said she noticed her skin started to clear up between four to six months of using the products.
‘I feel amazing now. I rarely wear makeup and if I do, I use the translucent mineral powder from esmi. I feel confident,’ she said.
‘I feel like it’s cliché to say stuff like this but the esmi Skin Minerals team is simply amazing. I could never thank the skincare team enough. I felt so supported. And of course the products speak for themselves.’
For those struggling with severe acne, Erica said: ‘It can get better if you are really committed and have the right information, products and support. Once you start treating your skin gently, it will start to heal. It will take time, but trust the process.’
