Apple has officially released the iOS 14.2 update which brings a multitude of brand new emojis for you to scour through.

They include a pinched finger and thumb – you know, the ‘frustrated Italian hand gesture’, we’ve all seen the memesas well as a transgender pride flag, ninjas, women and men feeding a baby, a feather, an olivethe list goes on.

As well as all of these, the Apple emoji update has changed the appearance of ‘Person With Veiland ‘Person in Tuxedoto gender neutral designs, with new sequences added to support gender-specific options for women or men.

There is also a sink plungerin case you need to tell your landlord via emoji that you’ve got a blocked draina ‘happy crying’ face, then some much more general ones like bubble tea, a boomerang, a piñata, a dodo and an anatomically correct (well, sort of) heart.

As well as the new gender-inclusive emoji variants, there will also be new skin tones added for several of the existing emojis.

The new set of colourful characters will be available not only on the iPhone and iPad, but also on watchOS, for the emoji-lover on the go.

They’ve also been sighted in the latest developer releaser of macOS Big Sur, meaning that Apple laptop users will have this significant ‘advantage’ as well.

The Unicode Consortium announced back in September that Emoji version 13.1, which will include a whole host more emojis, would be available in the not-so-distant future.

As well as the new emojis, the update also includes eight new wallpapers in both light and dark mode versions, a refreshed AirPlay menu, a new Shazam toggle for Control Center, and a whole host of bug fixes.

There will be a new accessibility feature which will come in handy for blind users who have an iPhone 12 Pro or Pro Max. This will use a build-in lidar sensor so your phone can detect the presence of and distance to people using the camera on the device.

This means people without sight can be alerted when someone is in front of them more than six feet away and another one if they come closer. There will be audio alerts, as well as the option to set up a haptic pulse that goes faster as the person comes closer.
