A woman who spent £1,500 a night at The Savoy Hotel made a bizarre request that her morning coffee was served with butterfly milk.
Regular Alice Evans has been visiting the central London hotel for the past 10 years and has built up a close relationship with the staff members.
The mum-of-four told how she stays at The Savoy four times a year as a getaway from her children, and always requests a butler service.
When being shown to her room, Alice was asked by one of the butlers if she had any special requests, to which she replied: ‘Can I get some butterfly milk, it’s all I’m drinking at the moment.’
We are not entirely sure if she was being serious or not, but either way, in true five-star service, the hotel arranged for Mrs Evans to have the milk she requested.
Taking to Twitter afterwards, viewers were just as baffled by the bizarre request, with many questioning: ‘It is a thing?’
While one added: ‘Can you get me some butterfly milk as its all I’m drinking at the moment..’
For those of you wondering, there is such a thing as butterfly pea milk (originated from Thailand) which you can make at home.
It was originally built by Richard D’Oyly Carte and was owned by the Carte’s family for over a century.
The hotel is now owned and managed by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, who also own New York’s iconic Plaza Hotel.
