Try not to freak out while you hunt for clues in the room to solve the mystery of a missing girl
Universal Studios Japan in Osaka reopened to visitors from across the country back in July, but with the indefinite delay of the highly anticipated Super Nintendo World, the park is looking for other ways to entice visitors. Since summer is the time for ghost stories and haunted attractions in Japan, the theme park’s hotel has revamped one of the guest rooms into a spooky puzzle room, filled with mysteries to solve.
Hotel Universal Port, located next to Universal Studios Japan, will be offering the haunted room from September 4 to December 20. This year marks the sixth edition of the popular horror-themed puzzle room, and this time you’ll get to play the role of a journalist as you hunt for clues to solve the mystery behind a girl’s disappearance.
At first glance, the room looks just like the inside of a haunted house, decorated with faux-bloodstains, cobwebs and a worrying array of pictures stuck on the walls. You’ll have to complete a series of small tasks to piece together the clues to solve the central mystery, like dipping photographs in water to reveal hidden messages, finding a key to the safe, and having ‘flashbacks’ via your smartphone or tablet.
The special room is only available to one group of up to four people per day, and prices start at ¥8,000 per person, depending on the date. Make a reservation via the website.
