Running like a brisk wind on the sails, Sea of Thieves will be receiving significantly improved load times as well.

Sea of Thieves players should be singing like drunken sailors, because the game will be running in 4K at 60 frames per second on Xbox Series X and 1080p at 60 frames per second on Xbox Series S.

Running like a brisk wind on the sails, Sea of Thieves will be receiving significantly improved load times as well. If these optimization updates are anything to go by, it seems like Rare and Microsoft want to keep Sea of Thieves going for the foreseeable future. Arrrrrgh you going to make the next-gen jump?

Excited about setting sail on Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S? These are the key optimisations for your next-gen Sea of Thieves experience, so get set to enjoy some silky-smooth skelly smashing:⏱️ Improved load times⬛ 4K, 60FPS on Xbox Series X⬜ 1080p, 60FPS on Xbox Series S

Other possible graphical improvements have not been listed as of yet, but we do know that these optimizations for Sea of Thieves will be live day-and-date with the Xbox Series X and S.

The Xbox Series X and Series S will be weighing anchor on November 10 worldwide for $499 and $299 US. Those with Xbox Game Pass can access Sea of Thieves whenever they’d like. It will also utilize Smart Delivery, which means that if you bought the game on Xbox One, you will also have the optimized version for free.

While the launch for Sea of Thieves was lackluster in content, it seems like Rare has made the game shipshape over the past few years. The developer recently launched a free expansion called Vaults of the Ancients, which has you and the crew explore the world for valuable vault keys. Once collected, pirates can find a load of booty, including riches and medallions.

Rare also added Mysterious Notes to the game, which help steer players towards the content they want to play; for example, there would be world events, new arrivals at your outpost, and more mentioned in these notes. It’s like the recommended tab on YouTube but far less corporate. Rare included pet dogs in a recent update, as well, and you can’t go wrong with that, can you?

Sea of Thieves has amassed over 15 million players this year, and with its optimized release on Xbox Series X, that number will likely continue. While we’d love to see a new Banjo & Kazooie from Rare at some point in our lives, we understand that Sea of Thieves and Everwild might be a priority right now for the studio.
