To promote the upcoming Pokémon Sword and Shield DLC (The Crown Tundra), Nintendo’s battle royale game Tetris 99 is this weekend hosting a special pocket monster-themed event from 16th – 19th October.
If you missed this theme the first time around, it’s a little easier now – as it is unlocked at 50 events points instead of 100. It features background art, music and Tetrimino designs inspired by Sword and Shield.
When he’s not paying off a loan to Tom Nook, Liam likes to report on the latest Nintendo news and admire his library of video games. His favourite Nintendo character used to be a guitar-playing dog, but nowadays he prefers to hang out with Judd the cat.
Eh, kinda cool for the 2 people who wanted to play that event but didn’t have the chance.
The first time they released this theme was when I first noticed how unbearably grating the Sword and Shield soundtrack is. By far the worst theme so far.
Good for people that didn’t own a Switch when this theme was first released (or that just missed it)
I mean, how hard would it have been to swap in some DLC sprites to go along with the DLC?
We need some new themes to unlock. I already have the existing ones which was my main drive to play the game daily.

Hm, there should be new themes, such as Pikmin, Breath of the Wild/Hyrule Warriors 2 or Super Mario 3D All-Stars…
I’m only missing the first theme: the GameBoy one.I don’t understand why RingFit etc gets repeated instead of the first few.
Missed this the first time round so happy to pick it up. Also, an 11th place which is my highest yet.
I got this theme the first time around, but I don’t think I used it again. Played it last night and really enjoyed it, so it was like a win for me.
