Qualcomm will hold its annual Tech Summit on December 1. During the two-day event, the chipset giant will showcase its latest flagship processor, dubbed as Snapdragon 875. The flagship chips from Qualcomm have traditionally found their way on premium and mid-range handsets across brands. According to reports, a Realme 7 series phone could be the first to offer Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865.
It is worth noting that Realme already offers Realme 7, Realme 7 Pro, and Realme 7i smartphones — all aimed at the budget segment The company is likely to launch a new variant of Realme 7, most likely a Pro Plus-sorts, with the upcoming flagship Qualcomm processor. Interestingly, Realme executives last month had hinted at launching a 5nm chip-based phone.
The upcoming Realme 7 series phone is said to come with 125W flash charging support. It will also have a punch-hole full-screen design.
Apart from Realme, other smartphone brands are also in the race to launch Snapdragon 875-based phones. According to reports, Xiaomi will launch Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro with the new chip. Redmi K40 Pro and Poco F3 Pro are also likely to join the bandwagon.
The biggest launch, however, is going to Samsung’s 2021 S-series flagships, Galaxy S21/S30. Samsung also offers Exynos-based versions of its flagship phones in select markets. The flagship Galaxy S21/S30 series is likely to launch in February next year.
That said, Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 is said to be an incremental upgrade over the Snapdragon 865. Some of the leaked specs of the chip include Spectra 580 image-processing engine, Kryo 685 CPU, Adreno 660 GPU, and Adreno 1095 DPU. You can expect improvements in battery life, camera performance, and more machine learning-based features. Qualcomm is reportedly working on Lite versions of Snapdragon 875 processor to keep the down the prices.
