The first November event in Pokémon Go celebrates the animated series with special Pokémon encounters and the return of a Legendary Pokémon in Raids.
Dubbed Animation Week, this new Pokémon Go event will have Pokémon tied to the two protagonists—Ash and Goh—appear more often in the wild and there will be a special timed research event that’s inspired by the anime’s storyline.
Pokémon Go Animation Week begins Friday, November 6, at 8 a.m. to Thursday, November 12, at 10 p.m. local time.
Niantic confirmed on its blog that the Animation Week event will have an exclusive timed research that trainers will want to complete.
While the specific tasks are not known, Niantic states that it will have something to do with the anime’s storyline. For those not watching the Pokémon: Journeys anime, Ash and new traveling companion Goh travel to the different regions of the Pokémon world, including the new Galar region.
Trainers will have a higher than normal chance to find and catch a Shiny Cubone during the Animation Week event.
Shiny Cubone is visibly different from its normal coloring. Normally Cubone’s coloring is brown, but its Shiny form makes it a vibrant green. Pokémon Go trainers will have a chance to find it in the wild or hatching it from 7km Eggs.
There will be a lot of in-game bonuses Pokémon Go trainers will be able to earn during this upcoming event.
World Cap Pikachu will be appearing in the wild. This special Pikachu will be wearing the same hat Ash wears in the anime. It will also be available in its Shiny form for lucky trainers.
A special Lugia will be appearing in Raids during the event. The Psychic and Flying-type Legendary from the Johto region will be appearing in five-star raids knowing the exclusive attack, Aeroblast.
Along with Lugia other Pokémon like Ivysaur, Pinsir, Snorlax, Golurk and others will be showing up in raids.
Pokémon hatching from 7km Eggs will include not just the aforementioned Cubone, but also Pichu, Mantyke and Riolu.
Trainers can also get Goh-inspired avatar items in the Style shop, and the character may appear in Go Snapshot.
