The Pokemon Go Animation Week event has been announced for November 2020. Additionally, an ongoing Poke Coin test in several countries has been discontinued.

Pokemon Go is no stranger to special events and a new one is on the way. This brand new event will last a short six days, giving players the opportunity to get their hands on some cool new stuff! It’ll be especially welcome in the handful of countries where a recent Poke Coin test has just been canceled.

The Pokemon Go Animation Week event will explore Ash and Goh, two of the major characters from the massive Pokemon franchise. Naturally, this event will be themed around these two characters.

Raids, too, will feature some changes as part of the Pokemon Go Animation Week Event. Ivysaur, Pinsir, Snorlax, Gorlurk, and others will now appear in raids. In addition, Lugia will return to 5-star raids (and equipped with the Aeroblast attack) from November 5–16, 2020.

Of course, this event will also feature Timed Research for players to explore. As for Goh, he might appear in Go Snapshot! Whether you snap a picture of him or not, you’ll be able to steal his style with some Goh-inspired avatar items.

The Pokemon Go Animation Week event will be running from November 6, 2020, at 8:00 AM local time until November 12, 2020, at 10:00 PM local time. You can read more about it in the event’s news post.

Aside from the new Pokemon Go event, another piece of news quietly dropped: Niantic is discontinuing a Poke Coin test.

Earlier this year, Niantic began testing changes to the Poke Coin system that would give players the opportunity to earn Poke Coins in new ways. After spending several months gathering data and player feedback, Niantic has decided to discontinue the test.

“Based on Trainer feedback and collected data, this PokĂ©Coin-rewards test will be discontinued in all test countries (Australia, Germany, New Zealand, and Taiwan),” reads an update on the game’s official website. “The PokĂ©Coin-rewards system in those countries will revert to the existing system on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at 11:59 p.m. local time. We appreciate Trainers’ participation in the test, and we’ll continue to look for ways to improve how players can earn PokĂ©Coins.

Mind, Niantic has not yet announced what it is going to do with this data. It appears that it has collected enough information to make a decision on how it might change the Poke Coin system going forward; for now, any regions that were experiencing the test will revert to the old Poke Coin system.

For now, players can look forward to playing the Pokemon Go Animation week event when it starts on November 6, 2020. You can get the game for free on iOS and Android via its official website.
