COVID-19 put the spotlight on Microsoft’s remote work offerings, particularly its Teams product that is positioned as an alternative to Slack and Zoom.

The vendor has invested significant effort to develop offerings enterprises need to cope with the pandemic, including Microsoft 365/Office 365 for collaboration, Azure Active Directory for authentication, Microsoft Threat Protection for integrated security and Windows Virtual Desktop for virtualized desktops and applications.

Microsoft appears poised to capitalize on this shift toward digital transformation with the hybrid capabilities of its Azure cloud platform, its focus on workflows that automate tasks on the Power Platform and the expansion of its AI technology to help companies process ever-increasing amounts of data.

Check here for coverage of the Microsoft Ignite 2020 conference, which is scheduled to run from September 22-24.

If Microsoft follows the pattern of previous Ignite shows, the vendor will emphasize its cloud-based services, such as Microsoft Teams and Windows Virtual Desktop, that many companies depend on for their remote work needs. Here is some recent news from the vendor.
