If youâve unlocked Wolverine in Fortnite, maybe, just maybe, you want him to look a little less silly. Yes, the old-style costume has its charms, but superheroes have been gritty for a while now, or at least ârealisticâ. Luckily, Fortnite has that option for Wolverine now too. If you want that torn tank top, down-to-earth look, the âLoganâ style is now available in the game.
Unlike some other alternate styles in the past, this one isnât unlocked through a specific challenge. Instead, youâve just got to complete 60 weekly challenges and Wolverine challenges. Itâs possible youâre already there, in which case, youâve got the sideburned charmer available already to augment the main style as well as the gold and brown classic style from weeks 5 and 6.
Itâs funny: despite the fact that Wolverine will forever be associated with his iconic yellow outfit with those weird spikes that come off his eyemask, thatâs not really what heâs been in the public eye for two decades. X-Men came out in 2000, and Hugh Jackmanâs stripped-down Wolverine became an instant star, as well as a crucial predecessor to Robert Downey Jr., Iron-Man and the cultural ascendancy of superhero movies.
This style directly references 2017âs Logan, an excellent movie that portrayed Wolverine as down-on-his-luck and on the run, a straightforward, stark contrast to the slick production values and larger-than-life heroes of the MCU. He was in a lot rougher shape in that movie than he appears as this skin, however, even if it does get Hugh Jackmanâs unnervingly-massive muscles spot on. That movie, at the time, seemed to herald a new era of âseriousâ superhero movies, but that never really materialized. Iâd still go watch it, however, itâs great.
Thatâs probably the end of our Wolverine styles, and Iâm curious to see if we get a superhero next season to augment Deadpool, Aquaman and now Wolverine. The drip-feed was one thing, of course, but now weâve got sort of enough superheroes in the game. Weâll see soon, because this season is just about out of juice and things are about to move on.
