Faze Clan and Turner ‘Tfue” Tenney have issued a joint statement announcing that they have settled the lawsuits filed against each other in a California court
“FaZe Clan and Turner Tenney are pleased to announce that they have resolved their disputes and settled their litigations,” a spokesperson said. “The parties wish one another the best of luck in future endeavors.”
Tenney first filed a lawsuit in a California court against the North American esports organization to get out from under an allegedly constrictive three-year contract with FaZe Clan. The suit claimed that the company had deprived him of business opportunities and failed to pay him his share of sponsorship revenues. Faze Clan then filed a countersuit that claimed the esports professional and streamer had disparaged FaZe Clan and that the forming of his own esports organization was not allowed since Tenney was still under contract.
Tenney filed lawsuits in both New York State and California, but U.S. District Court Judge Jed S. Rackoff dismissed most of the requests from FaZe while dismissing all claims requested by Tenney. However, while these decisions eliminated Tenney’s litigation about certain claims made in New York, Tenney was told to file his suits in a California court.
One of those lawsuits filed by Tenney’s legal team was dismissed this past July by a California judge. In a statement made to the Hollywood Reporter, Philip Gordon, FaZe Clan’s chief legal officer, said, “We are very pleased with Judge Cowan’s decision to dismiss Turner’s case. This is one of many moments throughout this legal process when the courts have ruled in our favor. We haven’t wanted to argue this in the press because we don’t want to attack Turner. We care about him and our gamers who have been hurt by this process. The reality is we support Turner and invested heavily in his career — we simply want an outcome that is fair. We look forward to continuing the N.Y. case and feel confident in its outcome.”
