Electronic Arts intends to release multiple titles for Nintendo Switch this year, the company said on Tuesday.

CEO Andrew Wilson told listeners during EA’s FY20 earnings call that it was “planning to deliver for more Nintendo fans with multiple EA games set to launch for Nintendo Switch this year.”

Historically EA has not heavily supported Nintendo’s console, with its output to date limited to just five games, three of which are FIFA titles.

The publisher already had one announced game planned for release on the platform this year in the form of another re-release, June’s Burnout Paradise Remastered.

EA previously said it remained cautious about the market opportunities on Switch, but also teased plans to release new games for the platform as it continues to grow.

COO and CFO Blake Jorgensen said during the company’s previous earnings call in January: “We are very pleased with how well Nintendo has done with Switch. I mean, people love the platform, they enjoy it, it’s great.

“We are always looking and discussing with Nintendo what else we can put on the platform and as you can imagine, as the platform grows, our interest in adding content grows for that platform.

“But we’re also conscious of the fact that the top-selling titles by a long shot are all Nintendo software, which is fabulous software, but it helps us balance sort of the realities of how big our markets can be there, but trust that we’re looking at that.

“You will hear some more things in the future about what we’re putting on the platform,” Jorgensen continued, “and we’re very pleased with how it’s grown alongside the growth of both Sony’s and Microsoft‘s platforms.”

Both FIFA 21 and Madden NFL 21 are planned for release during EA’s second fiscal quarter, which runs from July until September, the company said on Tuesday.

It also revealed plans to announce another EA Sports title, an additional EA HD game, four EA Partners titles and two mobile soft-launches.
