Ian Blackford, the SNP’s leader at Westminster, has expressed no objection to sharing contact tracing details with police officers to ensure Covid carriers are obeying quarantine rules.

A similar proposal in England has caused an outcry among behavioural scientists and government advisers who fear it will discourage people from complying with contact tracers

Despite repeated requests last night, the Scottish government declined to clarify its position, fuelling fears police officers could be handed personal information given to contact tracers.
