A refrigerator-sized asteroid is set to zoom by the Earth today, just ahead of tomorrow’s big presidential showdown between Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
NASA said the object, known as 2018 VP1, only has a .41 percent chance of entering the Earth’s atmosphere so there’s no need to panic as you prepare to head to the polls to vote. Even if it does enter the atmosphere, it would likely burn up before getting anywhere near the ground.
The asteroid is small in terms of space rocks – about 6.5 feet wide. It is expected to fly by between 4,700 and 260,000 miles away from Earth, traveling at a speed of more than 21,000 mph.
