There’s no denying Fall Guys has been a humungous success. The game had a hugely successful beta, gained hundreds of thousands of viewers on Twitch, became the most successful PS Plus game of all time and smashed seven million sales on Steam within its first month. Fall Guys has been the king of the Steam charts since it launched back in early August, however, after six strong weeks, it’s been dethroned.
After a couple of weeks of flirting with the top spot, online party game Among Us has taken the throne. The chart for the week ending September 20 is tracked by dollar sales and was shared on Twitter by analyst Daniel Ahmad.
Despite launching over two years ago now, back in June 2018, Among Us is currently gaining major traction. The game sees up to 10 players come together to form a crew, with a small selection playing imposters. While the crew band together to complete tasks, the imposters have to sabotage the missions and conceal their identity.
The game has received its surge in popularity due to online content creators and Twitch streamers latching onto it. Over the last seven days, Among Us has had the highest average viewer count of any game on Twitch and has been watched for over 40 million hours in that time period.
Among Us’ popularity has caused the developers Innersloth to confirm that the game will be receiving a sequel. Although that’s likely to be some way out, Innersloth has confirmed that they’d like to include the first game in some capacity and that they will leave the servers for the original game running.
