The last month has been a big month for digital console sales as several major new releases messed up the top earners on the platform.

Digital games totaled $ 10.7 billion in sales for September, up 14% year over year, according to SuperData’s monthly report.

This was due to increases across all platforms: mobile up 9%, PC 8% and console 40% thanks to releases like NBA 2K21, Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1 + 2, Marvel’s Avengers and Super Mario 3D All-Stars – those by the way the top four earners (in the correct order) were on consoles.

NBA 2K21 sold a total of 1.9 million digital units and was the top earning title of the month across all platforms. Revenue increased 19% from the launch of NBA 2K20 last year.

In second place, Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1 + 2 sold 2.8 million digital units.

Avengers sold 2.2 million units last month, making it the second largest digital launch for a Square Enix title after Final Fantasy 7: Remake and roughly matching digital sales for Marvel’s Spider-Man launch month.

And Super Mario 3D All-Stars sold 1.8 million digital units, marking the biggest digital launch for a Mario title on Switch – meaning it surpassed Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario Maker 2, and Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe .

Over on PC, Crusader Kings 3 sold 1.1 million units, set a starting record for a PC strategy game, and peaked at number 5 on the PC charts.

The popular streaming title Among Us didn’t make the charts due to limited in-game spend and low price, but its mobile version reached as many players as Pokemon Go in August 2016, the peak of its popularity.

In particular, last month’s top earner on PC, Fall Guys, didn’t make the charts for a second straight month.
