Huawei’s Hongmeng OS for phones is already under development. During this year’s Huawei Developer Conference, it was revealed that select phones will be able to test a beta version of the operating system by the end of the year. New info has now revealed the release date of this beta version.
The source of the info is the Weibo user Changan Digital King and according to him the tentative date for the release of Hongmeng OS developer beta version is December 18. He adds that after the beta version is released, some phone users will be able to upgrade their devices to it by January and February 2021 before a wider rollout a few months later.
Huawei has been hard at work developing its operating system for a variety of products simultaneously. While there are already commercially-available products running the operating system such as TVs, smart cameras, and head units for cars, folks are more eager to try it out on mobile devices.
Huawei is expected to make the new operating systems to phones running EMUI 11 first, starting with its flagship devices such as the Mate 40 series and MatePad Pro tablet.
