Delta Goodrem has reflected on the moment she decided to share her voice paralysis health battle with her fans on social media.

In August, the singer posted confronting footage to Instagram, which showed her slurring her words and unable to control her speech after complications from salivary gland removal surgery two years ago.

The 35-year-old has now told The Daily Telegraph’s Stellar Magazine that despite nervously ‘pacing around the house’ she was positive that the video would help others engulfed in ‘private battles’.

‘Pacing around the house’: Delta Goodrem has reflected on the moment she decided to share her voice paralysis health battle with her fans on social media

Delta told the publication: ‘I’d spent a lot of time in my heart deciding to share this story and this message of hope, as I felt that so many others must have gone through private battles this year, on top of the global issues we’ve all faced.’

The Born To Try star added: ‘I wanted to remind people of how important it is to be kind to others because you never know what someone is going through behind the scenes.’

In the same interview, Delta also addressed if she was going to return as a judge on Channel Seven’s The Voice next year following its acquisition from Nine.

The stunner kept coy, saying: ‘I love the show. It’s such a wonderful experience and is something I’ve been a part of since day one.’

On the health front, Delta could barely communicate due to paralysis of a nerve in her tongue but has since made a full recovery thanks to extensive speech therapy.

In a video filmed in October 2018, The Voice star is seen breaking down in tears at the thought that her career may be over.

Struggling to form her words, Delta wept: ‘I don’t want to go out, I’m super embarrassed… I’m super embarrassed, I’m just over it! I’m just trying to stay positive.

‘My livelihood is my sound… I’m trying to decide whether this is getting any better or not. It doesn’t feel like it.’

Delta had kept the surgery a secret until August, deciding to announce it on Instagram as a way of explaining why she had not released new music.

It’s Delta’s second major health battle after she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma at the age of 18 in July 2003.
