Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins star Jason Fox has teased the shock exit of three stars so early on into the show’s new series and why they chose to hang up their boots.

Jason appeared on Good Morning Britain on Thursday and was quizzed over reports revealing Vicky Pattison, Jake Quickenden and Ulrika Jonsson have all pulled out of the new series of Celebrity SAS as filming gets underway.

Their exits mean that there’s just nine celebrities left to tackle the physical and mental assault course put in place by Ant Middleton.

GMB host Charlotte Hawkins brought up the shock exits and said to Jason live on air: ‘We’ve heard some people have quit already which doesn’t sound too good. Were they thinking it was a bit too tough? What can you tell us about that?’

Jason teased that he ‘can’t say too much’ without ‘ruining’ things for viewers, but did hint at why the celebrities in question struggled to continue on with the show.

‘A few people turned up not quite understanding what they were supposed to be doing,’ he replied.

‘Might have taken on more than they bargained for,’ Charlotte joked, as Kate Garraway teased: ‘There’s no messing about on that show is there.’

Insiders had revealed to The Sun that Vicky, Jake and Ulrika decided to call it quits not long after filming began.

‘SAS is notoriously the hardest show on telly and it pushes the celebs to their limits. Ulrika was so keen but not long after it started she had a meltdown and quit,’ sources told the paper.

‘Vicky also handed in the towel not long in. On the same day she left, it turned into chaos as Jake pulled up in agony. It’s believed he could have torn a bicep.’

Fans will have to wait a little while until they can tune in and see what really went down, as Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins isn’t set to return to Channel 4 until 2021.

Jason, meanwhile, also touched on the release of his new book Life Under Fire, where he discusses the idea of channelling your fear and turning it into resilience.

He opens up on terrifying situations he’s experienced as part of his military service, including a time he was taking cover in a ditch while being shot at.

‘Fear is obviously an emotion, we all experience it, but I think fear is actually really important to have – you talk about the ditch scenario, fear manifested itself in a way on that occasion where I noticed it, I manifested it to help me get through what I needed to do,’ Jason explained.

‘It boils down to, you have to, as soon as I start to feel something manifest itself, before it takes hold and has a negative impact on me, I give it the time of day… it’s about trying to slow down life as it tries to take charge of you,’ he said.

‘It’s difficult to step away from your own emotions but at least give yourself 10 seconds where you can work out what’s going on.’
