A new Call of Duty update for Modern Warfare and Warzone should be coming later today. Here’s a look at everything that’s new this week.
CALL OF DUTY UPDATE – Infinity Ward’s new Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Warzone update is live.
It’s made plenty of changes but players might be most interested to know that the developer has enabled 2XP, 2X Weapon XP, and 2X Tiers until Friday, May 8th.
This is the developers way of saying ‘thankyou’ whilst players patiently(?) waited for a fix to the games server issues that interrupted the game over the weekend.
• Replacing Plunder Trios with Blood Money Trios• Disabled helicopters in BR• Removing: GW Reinfected, Cranked 3v3 Gunfight, Ground War• Shoot the Ship becomes Shipment 24/7-Gun Game becomes Gun Game Reloaded• Adding Demolition• Adding Boots on the Ground War
Original Story Follows – Call of Duty Modern Warfare players are preparing to get ready for another weekly COD update which should be coming to all platforms later today – Tuesday, May 5.
Typically Infinity Ward use Tuesday’s to drop a new Playlist update for the game. This normally means new content and tweaks to both Modern Warfare and the games Battle Royale mode, Call of Duty Warzone. We normally see this update arrive on all platforms at around 6pm BST.
Whilst it won’t always require a new download for the game, it does sometimes require players be booted from the game for a quick server-side patch.
It won’t be unrealistic to see players swarm twitter and other social media sites to complain of server queues as everyone attempts to jump back into the game.
We say ‘typically’ but in recent weeks the developer has occaissionally deviated from their set schedule to drop updates 11pm PT. Which means that for players in the UK, the update doesn’t actually arrive until 7am BST on Wednesday.
In advance of the game’s next update, Activision has shared another extensive look at what’s coming this week, which is broken down just below into sections.
Full disclosure, it doesn’t sound as though Call of Duty Warzone Duos is coming this week though.
Instead, players can look forward to an updated playlist selection in multiplayer and Warzone. The new playlists include Demolition and Shipment 24/7, and in Warzone, Plunder Blood Money is back. Here’s the full breakdown:
Demolition represents tactical chaos at its finest, as players attempt to outsmart and overpower the other team. Do you all rush in together, or split up and cover the map? Should you run in and plant the bomb, or watch for enemies and provide cover? Get more insight including map specific tactics on Demolition this week on the Games Blog.
The ex-U.S. Ranger and Allegiance fighter is back in Store in a new bundle – ‘Mace: Guns Blazing’. Alongside a menacing new skin for Mace, the bundle includes two Legendary weapon blueprints that can overtake enemies in both Multiplayer and Warzone. Check the Store and pick up the bundle to add this vicious Jackals Operator to your roster, if you don’t already own him, and a haul of new gear.
Want to ride and fight in style? Get the ‘Anime Express’ bundle for weapon blueprints and vehicle skins that will add some color to all of your skirmishes. The bundle contains two Legendary weapon blueprints for close-range devastation and a skin for the Cargo Truck to express your style.
Trios Plunder Blood Money returns to Verdansk, rewarding you with more Cash for taking down enemies. Or drop into Battle Royale in an all-out fight for survive in Solos, Trios, and Quads. Looking for more ways to gain XP, gear, or blueprints for your loadout? Complete missions, daily challenges, and weekly challenges to gain a boost to ranking up and other gear while battling it out in Verdansk.
Get more action in the other updated Modern Warfare playlists. Practice your skills with a unique set of blueprints in Gun Game Reloaded. In this all-blueprint battle, get a kill with each weapon to progress through the set. Just don’t get melee’d or finished because you’ll suffer the humiliation of being demoted a weapon. Then, this ‘Ship’ just got a little more chaotic. Join the fun in the 24/7 Shipment playlist to play a mix of modes on this small map where the action never stops.
Beyond the new content mentioned above, it’s likely that the latest patch for Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Warzone will also contain plenty of fresh bug fixes.
The biggest issue facing the game since the release of the last update is a constant increase in server connection problems for the game.
Players have been complaining more and more of issues simply attempting to connect to the game.
However, there’s also a variety of issues which Infinity Ward and Activision has stated are being tracked in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
Some players are unable to complete the Season 3 Battle Pass Talon Challenges because the fourth challenge fails to track for them.
In the meantime, some players have found that clearing cache on their consoles ends this update loop. Follow the steps in this article to clear your console’s cache. In some cases, clearing cache may need to be done multiple times between attempts to load the game.
We’ve identified an issue that is causing hang crashes on the GPU, particularly during Campaign cutscenes. These crashes will be addressed in an upcoming patch.
Workaround: Try running VRAM under maximum and/or run the game with the default settings.
