Last month, we found out that Amazon Game Studios was working on an original game called Crucible. At the time, it was mentioned that the game was going to launch this month and it looks like Amazon is on schedule. The company has confirmed that the game will be launching on 20 May 2020 (or 21 May 2020 Malaysia time).
The news was revealed through the website and a new trailer, which also shared some details on the new game. Crucible is going to be a free-to-play PC game that will be available for Windows 10 PCs via Steam. Our first impression is that the game feels like a combination of third-person shooters like Overwatch with its heroes (or hunters as this game calls them), but with a MOBA-like experience to it (can level up and choose new upgrades).
Crucible has 3 game modes: Heart of the Hives, Alpha Hunters, and Harvester Command. The first one is a 4v4 mode where players have to capture ‘hearts’, which probably count as a type of point system. Alpha Hunters is a 2-man free-for-all mode, where you partner with another player to take out other teams. As for Harvester Command, it’s an 8v8 mode where the goal is to capture ‘harvesters’ and rake in the ‘essences’ while it’s in your team’s control.
Currently, the game has a roster of 10 different hunters, each with unique abilities. Also, this number suggests that you can pick a hero more than once, as Harvester Command requires 16 players. That’s all we know about the game so far, but Amazon Games Studio will probably reveal more in the days leading up to the official release.
So, what do you think of this game so far? Crucible is quite similar to Epic Games’ Paragon, which is now a dead game so the former has to impress players to stay on the market. With that said, will you be playing the game once it’s released on Steam? Let us know on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news updates.
